The governor of Missouri, Mike Kehoe, announced on Friday that he will summon the General State Assembly for a special session next week to re -draw Congress maps as Republicans press to create more inclination districts of the Republican Party before 2026 average.
Kehoe said in a statement that he describes the extent that for the special session that begins on Wednesday he is addressing the legislature controlled by the Republicans of the State to “take measures in the redistribution of districts” to ensure that the districts “really put the values of Missouri first.”
“The Missurians are more equal than us different, and our Missouri values, on both sides of the hall, are closer to each other than those of the extreme left representation of New York, California and Illinois,” he said.
The Missouri General Assembly has a republican supermayization, with the party by controlling two thirds of the seats both in the Chamber and in the Senate.
Although the Democrats in Missouri are limited in their ability to prevent their Republican colleagues from continuing with the new maps, state senator Doug Beck, the main democrat of the Chamber, said in a fundraising position in X that the match “will fight against this in each step.”
“If the Democrats return to the Chamber, they will launch Epstein’s archives, and this scares President Trump. That is why the president has ordered Missouri to scratch the seal of a manipulated map drawn in Washington DC because he knows that Missouri’s Republicans would prefer to protect the pedophiles than to say” not “Donald Trump,” Beck said in a statement.
The Kehoe directive makes Missouri the second state led by the Republicans who advances to draw their Maps of Congress to favor the Republican Party in the mid -period elections of 2026. The effort is backed by President Donald Trump, since the party seeks to maintain control of the camera, where the Republicans have a large majority over the Democrats.
The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, signed on Friday new Maps of Congress that could create up to five new collection opportunities for the party. The Republican governor said in an X publication that the maps ensure a “fairer representation” of Texas, who raised “will be redder in Congress.”
Several Democratic governors have promised to respond to the republican effort with the redistribution movements of partisan districts, with Gavin Newsom from California and Kathy Hochul in New York among the most vocal defenders.
The Legislature controlled by Democrat in California recently approved a bill that will allow voters to decide in November if the State should adopt new Gerrymander maps that can generate up to five new seats, a direct response to the profits of the Republican Party in Texas.
Last month, New York Democrats presented a bill that would allow their state to carry out districts in the middle of the decade if another state does first, but that effort would require an amendment and state constitutional referendum, they probably take years to achieve it.
Utah will also draw its limits from Congress after a judge discovered that the legislature controlled by the State Republicans “unconstitutionally repealed” a 2020 voting measure that prohibited the redistribution of partisan districts and weakened the role of an independent commission in the drawing maps. The judge prohibited the State from celebrating future elections with its current Maps of the Congress and said it must present a new map before the end of September.
