Turkiye has decided to prohibit Israeli ships from using their ports, prohibiting Turkish ships to use Israeli ports and impose restrictions on airplanes that enter Turkish airspace, foreign minister said Fidan Minister Hakan Fidan.
He provided few details in comments to Parliament, which seemed to summarize the steps that Turkiye has already taken against Israel about the conflict in Gaza or has begun to be implemented.
Turkiye fiercely criticized Israel’s offensive in Gaza and accused him of committing genocide at the Palestinian enclave and stopped all trade with Tel Aviv, requested international measures against him and urged world powers to stop his support.
Sources said Reuters Last week, that the Turkish port authorities also began to inform the shipping agents that provide letters that declare that ships are not linked to Israel and do not transport military or dangerous load to the country.
A source had also said that ships with Turkish flag would be forbidden to call Israeli ports.
“We have totally reduced our trade with Israel, we have closed our ports to Israeli ships and we are not allowing Turkish boats to go to the ports of Israel,” Fidan told an extraordinary parliamentary session on Israel’s attacks against Gaza.
“We are not allowing container ships that transport weapons and ammunition to Israel enter our ports, and airplanes enter our airspace,” he added, without giving details.
The Israeli government did not immediately comment on their comments.
