Two men arrested for torturing two brothers in a RS30 dispute with street vendors in Raiwind were killed in a “meeting” with the Crime Control Department (CCD), the victims’ lawyer said Thursday.
The incident came to light after a video clip that shows street vendors subjected to both brothers to torture went viral on social networks. The alleged attackers were seen with clubs in their hands and hitting the victims in a public place in Raiwind. A brother died of severe brands of torture in the place, while the other succumbed to his wounds on Sunday.
Ali Ahmed Awan, the lawyer who represents the victims’ father, said Dawn.com A day before a total of six suspects were appointed in the case, of which three, including the main suspect, had been arrested.
“Two of the suspects, Owais and Shahzad, were killed in a police meeting after their accomplices tried to attack the police,” said Awan today. “The CCD is still looking for the rest of the suspects.”
No case has been registered regarding the police meeting, he said.
On August 22, a first information report (FIR) was presented on the complaint of the victims’ father at the Raiwind city police station under sections 147 (punishment for disturbances), 149 (illegal assembly) and 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Criminal Code.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred on August 21 at 5:45 pm, when the brothers returned home and stopped to buy some fruit.
“Due to a dispute about money, the owner of the fruit cart … and his brother … began to hit my children and called other people,” said the plaintiff.
