PTI legislators have begun to renounce the membership and presidency of all the permanent committees in the National Assembly on Wednesday after the instructions of the founder of the Imran Khan party.
The Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) in July and August disqualified a large number of members and leaders of PTI in relation to their participation in the disturbances of May 9, 2023 against Imran’s arrest, generating protests in the National Assembly.
General Director of Na (media) Zafar Sultan Khan said Dawn.com Today that Ali Asghar Khan and Faisal Amin had sent their resignations as members of the Permanent Committee to the president of Na Ayaz Sadiq.
A statement by PTI Whip Aamir Dogar also said: “The members of the PTI of the National Assembly have begun to act on the instructions of the founding president Imran Khan. The members of the permanent committees of PTI have begun to send their resignations. Many members have presented their resignations to the Secretariat of the National Assembly.”
He said that the remaining legislators would send their resignations to the Secretariat of Na tomorrow.
The resignation announcement took place after a meeting of the PTI Political Committee that ended at 3:30 am this morning, according to PTI Mna Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel.
The MNA said today that PTI members resigned from memberships and the presidency of all permanent committees.
“PTI has renounced the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) and other committees,” he said in a video announcement before the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee, adding that political affairs would be delivered to the political committee for an additional consultation.
According to the opposition leader’s chamber, the decision had been made on resignations, and the members, including Junaid Akbar, had written their resignations, but the resignations had not yet been formally presented to the speaker.

Meanwhile, Mastikhel added that the resignation of the committees decided on Imran’s instructions after a four and a half hours meeting, extending his thanks to the founder of PTI for representing his full confidence in the political committee.
“As the decision was made in the last hours of the night, today we also have a meeting of parliamentary parties … what Mr. Khan orders, we will continue,” he said.
Mastikhel also added that the second decision made by the Political Committee was to present a candidate in the vacancy of the constituency of the deceased Mian Azhar after his death.
The son of the deceased Azhar, Hammad Azhar, clarified in a position yesterday that the decision to boycott the partial elections was due to the fact that PTI members in those areas were “unfairly disqualified”, while the matter of the natural death of Mian Azhar was a different case, according to Imran.
“He (Imran) also said that due to the disappearance, someone from Mian Azhar’s family or a candidate nominated for Hammad Azhar will play the elections from here,” Hammad added.
President Junaid Akbar did not attend the PAC meeting today, where the objections of the Cabinet, Oil and Gas (Oil and Gas (OIL) division division and the objections of the National Audit Audit of the Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) were being considered. Instead, the meeting took place under the presidency of Naveed Qamar.
The Political Committee expressed a deep concern for the daily hearings related to the Toshakhana trial in Adiala’s prison, saying that “they would affect the fundamental rights of the accused” and create obstacles in the delivery of justice.
“The PTI considers the disqualified members in the cases of May 9 as their true representatives,” added the committee, saying that it would boycott the partial elections in the constituencies of the disqualified members.
According to the announcement, the elections will be held in the Na-129 Circumscription of Lahore.
Earlier this month, the members of the opposition party organized a vociferous protest in the NA against the continuous convictions of their leaders and the subsequent disqualifications of their legislators.
Tarar says that PTI legislators should not resign
Separately, information minister, Attaullah Tarar, said about Geographical news It shows ‘Capital Talk’ that PTI MNA should not give up the permanent committees, saying that they particularly attended each session of the Senate Permanent Committee by the lawyer Ali Zafar out of respect and the government fulfilled its orders.
He also appreciated the contribution of PTI legislators in the permanent committees and said that attempts were always made to involve them in the dialogue and address their concerns.
“I think the permanent committees have a very important role, so they must review the decision to resign them.”
Meanwhile, the secretary general of PTI SALMAN AKRAM RAJA also blamed the Government for the decision to resign the permanent committees, saying that the orders of the president’s presidents were not served.
He also claimed that he had not felt to dispute partial elections since the results were already manipulated and predicted.
