The family of a Norwegian hiker whose body was recovered on the weekend from the banks of the Hayes river in northern Manitoba says that an autopsy show drowned.
Steffen Skjottelvik, who was 29 years old, was on a cross trip of the Canadian desert when he went on foot with his two Fort Severn dogs, Ontario, to travel to York Factory, man.
Police had said that Skjottelvik could have tried to cross the Hayes river of rapid movement and was swept.
Earth and air search engines found their body on Sunday near York Factory, Man., And was sent to Winnipeg for an autopsy.
The family spokesman Christian Dyresen said that the police told Skjottelvik’s relatives in Norway that the autopsy was complete and that he had drowned.
Dyresen said that the family is preparing to travel to Canada to take him home and meet some of the people who registered him and took care of him before he disappeared.
