Nine terrorists from the prohibited group Tehreek-I-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been killed in a joint operation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s superior district, police said on Tuesday.
A statement issued by the police officer of the district of the UPPER DIR (DPO) Muhammad Bilal said that the Police and the Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out a specific operation against the TTP in the district.
“Nine terrorists were killed in the operation that has been happening for three days, and the bodies of five were recovered,” he said, added that 10 police personnel were injured by terrorists and two locals were also killed.
The statement said the operation was carried out in adjacent areas within the limits of the Dir City Police station based on credible information that indicates the presence of elements of prohibited terrorist organizations.
“The direct police are always ready to eliminate terrorism and protect the lives and property of people, and is determined to make all kinds of sacrifice. This operation will continue to the complete elimination of Fitna-al-Khawarij“The Dpo said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the police and the CTD for operations, adding that he and the whole nation were proud of them.
Five security personnel and three civilians, including a two -year -old boy, hugged martyrdom, while several police officers suffered injuries as clashes between security forces and militants continued during the weekend and a day ago in several parts of KP. A senior CTD official had said Dawn.com that the bodies of the five terrorists were in police custody. They could have links through the border in Afghanistan, he said.
In the Lower Dir lajbook area, strong shots broke out between the police and the militants. Although no victims of this clash were reported, the tension seized the area when the attackers set fire to police vehicles, including two trucks and a car, the premises said. Sharing the images on social networks, the prohibited TTP said they had “confiscated the vehicles and destroyed them.”

Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities in recent years, especially in KP and Baluchistan, after the TTP ended its fire with the government in November 2022.
