Emma Raducanu won her first victory at the US Open. Uu. From her triumph for the 2021 fairy tale title on Sunday with a direct demolition of the Japanese rating in Sibahara.
The British had total control at all times, breaking the Sibahara service routinely on his way to a 6-1, 6-2 gun in the Louis Armstrong stadium.
The victory was Raducanu’s first in the US Open since it made history four years ago, winning the championship as a little known qualifier at the age of 18.
It was knocked out in the first round of the US Open in 2022, the 2023 tournament was lost due to an injury and came out again in the first round in 2024.
“I’m very happy to have gone through that game,” Raducanu said later. “The first rounds are always very challenging, the nerves, and wanted to win a game here really bad.”
Raducanu admitted that his failure to win in New York since his memorable victory of the title four years ago had begun to weigh on her.
“He has been in my mind,” he said. “Four years have passed, and it is a very special tournament for me. I felt different when I entered this year.
“I felt that I was doing the right things day by day, but still, it is on the back of your head. So I am very happy to have overcome that.”
Raducanu added that a hurried start on Sunday had joined his nervousness in advance.
“I was nervous this morning after practice. There is not much time playing first,” he said. “You hurry to do things.
“After leaving the shower, I felt that I had just entered the area, I put my game kit, and that, for me, is a change of ‘ok, you’re going to prepare, block now.’ Then I relaxed.”
Raducanu, who describes the United States Open as his “happy place” despite his record since 2021, said his mood illuminates when he sees family faces of those he remembers four years ago.
“There was a security guard who is still working,” he said. “Every time I see it, he was there since the beginning of the first round of Quallies, second round, and until the final, and seeing it is really special.”
The non -sown Raducanu will face Veronika Kudermetova or Janice Tjen of Indonesia in the second round.
