Six people died on Wednesday in a dairy of Colorado in an accident that is being investigated as toxic to gas, the authorities said.
Six bodies were recovered when firefighters responded to “a confined space rescue” around 6 PM, the head of the Fire District of Southeast Weld, Tom Beach.
The deaths are being investigated as possibly the result of the toxic exposure to gas in a confined space, said Jolene Weimer, director director of Weld County.
The accident occurred in Prospect Valley Dairy at Weld County Road 18 in Weld County, which is northern Denver, said Weimer and the Fire Department.
Lechery Farmers of America said that the fatal accident occurred on one of its member farms in Kenesburg, a small city in front of the interstate 76 in the southern part of the county.
“We are deeply sad for this incident, and our thoughts and the most sincere condolences are with the friends of the deceased,” said Dairy Farmers of America. “At this early stage, we have no more details.”
Three other people were treated at a Uchealth hospital in Gareley and were discharged, he told Uchealh Kusa’s affiliate in Denver.
The Weld County Sheriff’s office said he replied but that it was not the main agency and that nothing criminal has been discovered.
The names of the dead were not released, and their families were still being notified on Thursday, Weimer said. Autopsies will also be completed, he said.
