Islamabad: A new evaluation carried out by the humanitarian aid organization, Islamic relief, reveals that 60 percent of families in poorly affected areas of Buner and Swat have lost their livelihood due to sudden floods and there has also been a massive destruction of homes and farms.
The emergency response equipment of the Islamic relief is on the ground distributing food and water, and the evaluation of the equipment discovered that 73 percent of the houses are partially destroyed or damaged; Sixty percent of people in Buner and 53 percent on Swat now cannot keep their families; Eighty percent of agricultural lands in Buner have been damaged; Almost 50 percent of cattle animals have died and have been dragged.
According to the evaluation, 40 percent of households already inform cases of diarrhea, with water transmitted diseases, since the water supply is contaminated by bodies of victims and cattle and the destruction of sanitation facilities.
The interim director of the Islamic relief country, Pakistan, Raza Narejo, said that “now the waters of the flood are going back, but the impact is enormous and will affect people here for a long time. The poorest communities have seen their work and income at an instant, with 60 percent of the workers in the Buner district now they cannot sustain themselves after the floods.” “
