Hours after the PTI announced Thursday night that men in plains had “kidnapped” the son of Aleema Khanum, the sister of the founder of the party and former prime minister Imran Khan, of his residence, Lahore’s police announced that Shahrez Khan had been arrested in relation to a May 9 case.
Shortly after the “kidnapping” was reported, police officers expressed the ignorance of Shahrez’s whereabouts and said they could only analyze the matter if there was an official complaint.
Previously, PTI frog lawyer Mudassar Umar had told her Dawn.com That Aleem’s son, Shahrez Khan, was “kidnapped” of his house in Lahore.
“People dressed in simple clothes entered the house and took the son of Aleema Khan with them,” he said. “No case has been registered against Shahrez, nor is it related to politics.”
Mudassar said there had been no information about Shahrez’s whereabouts and that he would approach the Superior Court of Lahore for recovery.
PTI’s Secretary of Information, Sheikh Waqqas Akram, wrote in X: “During an attack, people dressed in simple clothes kidnapped the son of Aleem Khan, Mr. Imran Khan’s sister, from her home.
“We firmly condemn this thug and oppression. We demand the current government and the president of the Supreme Court that your child is immediately recovered and safely returned to it,” he added.
A publication of the PTI official account said that Aleem’s house, from where Shahrez was taken, was “attacked by individuals with simple clothes.”
“His son Shahrez has been kidnapped, family members were harassed and the staff was beaten,” the post alleged, describing the incident “fascism” and added that Shahrez must recover immediately.
A longer statement from the central information department of the party described the incident “the height of the matrix and oppression.”
“Shahrez Khan was kidnapped from his room after breaking the doors of the house, the servants were subjected to brutal violence and Shahrez Khan was tortured in front of his two innocent children after entering the room,” the game alleged in the statement.
The statement stressed that Shahrez was avoided from traveling with his wife at Lahore airport yesterday and “unloading illegally.” The PTI described this treatment as a “shameless violation of basic human rights.”
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, turned to X to condemn the incident and demand Sharz’s immediate release.
“The kidnapping of Aleema’s son Khan Shahrez of his house for men with simple clothes is despicable,” he wrote.
The former opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, also condemned the incident.
“The unknown simple clothes attacked the house, kidnapped his son Shahrez and beat the home staff,” he wrote in X. “Such cowardly acts show that Prime Minister Imran Khan, his family members and PTI activists cannot be defeated.”
The secretary general of PTI, Salman Akram Raja, also stressed that during the incident, household staff allegedly attacked and the family was harassed.
Born in Lahore, Shahrez completed his education in Aitchison College before addressing the University of Oxford for his MBA. Currently, he works as a regional chief in Simba Global, a Australian -based linen supplier. It is also a triathlete.
