Baluchistan’s prime minister Sarfraz Bugti said on Monday that security agencies had arrested an alleged “suicide bomber” while frustrating a terrorist attack on Independence Day.
Going to a press conference in Quetta together with other senior officials, the prime minister said: “On August 14, suicidal terrorists had to go to those innocent citizens who celebrated Independence Day.”
He praised the security agencies, the Baluchistan and Police counter-terrorism department for saving the province of the “great destruction.”
CM Bugti then issued a registered statement from a arrested man, who said he had made a master’s degree from the Quaid-Azam University and a doctorate from the University of Peshawar, and was working as a professor of grade 18. The man said that his wife was also an employee of the government.
After the video statement was issued, CM Bugti pointed out that the shared information “was not in great detail”, so the ongoing investigations were not affected.
He recalled the bombing of the Quetta railway station in November 2024, in which “32 precious lives and more than 50 were injured”, and explained how the arrested professor allegedly participated in the facilitation of the attack.
“He (the teacher) made him sit on a motorcycle and dropped him near the railway station, and after that, he delivered it to another handling about 1 kilometer from the railroad station,” Bugti said.
Stating that the problem of Baluchistan’s militancy was attributed by some to “they being private,” asked the prime minister rhetorically: “How are these people deprived?
“The mother is still receiving a pension, which means that she was a government employee, her wife is also a government employee, he himself is a degree 18 [officer]He has studied and made a doctorate on the Pakistani scholarship, the brother is an employee in Reko diq [project]which means that it was not deprived in any way, ”Bugti added.
By qualifying the declared reason for private people, a “story”, which said that it was also echoed at a multiparty conference in Islamabad yesterday, Bugti said it was “an attempt to legitimize all this fight against Pakistan.”
Remembering that the neighbors resisted when the CTD went to arrest a “suicide bomber” connected to the teacher, the prime minister stressed: “I want to tell the people of Baluchistan: we present a FIR (first information report) against all of them, each of them is arrested.”
‘I went against the law and betrayed the State’
In his statement, the professor explained that he was presented to three men affiliated with “one organization” during his 2020 visit to the Quaid-Azam University, and that two of them were later murdered. The professor said that two men, Dr. Habetan and Feh Khaliq, then made him join the militant group and made him meet Basheerzai.
“All these presentations were made through Telegram,” said the man, referring to a messaging application known to privacy characteristics such as secret chats, self -destructive messages and anonymity. He said he facilitated “three acts” in the group’s directives when he went to Quetta, adding that his alias in the organization was Feh Hameer.
Remembering how he helped the group as told by Dr. Habetan and Feh Khaliq, the professor said he provided a place to a militant who was injured in a clash in Kalat. “I gave him [to another person] Before the incident, and the next day, he died in the suicide bombing of the railroad here, ”he said.
Then he reported another similar incident, where the man who gave refuge for seven to eight days was “about to be used in some case of August 14”. The teacher also confessed to having bought a gun that was used “to attack the security forces and government employees.”
The professor said: “These are the acts I have done, the facilitation I have done. If it is considered, the State has given us everything, respect, pride, a job, and even for my wife, but despite this, I went against the law and betrayed the State.
“I am deeply ashamed of having remained involved in these actions and repenting myself, and the objective of this video is that the next generations, youth and students are saved here from these groups that spread the anarchy,” he added.
