Luguentz Dort bringing NBA trophy to Montreal next week — and there’s a parade


Montrealer and NBA champion Luguentz Dort will come to Montreal next week, and his stay will include a championship parade in his former neighborhood.

Earlier this summer, Oklahoma City Thunder de Dort defeated the Indiana Pacers in a series of seven games to claim the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Next Wednesday, on August 20, Dort is expected to participate in a ceremony at 4 pm in the City Council with the mayor of Montreal, Valérie proposed, to celebrate his achievements, as well as his commitment to the youth of the city.

He will sign the city registrar, commonly known in French as the Livre d’Or. According to a Dort spokesman, that ceremony will bring together about 200 people from the city’s sports community.

The next day, Dort will participate in a parade in Montreal-Nord, the municipality where it grew.

“I feel that they deserve that because they have been supporting me throughout the season,” CBC told Daybreak, in an interview last month.
