The senior leader of PTI, Asad Qaiser, approached the rumors of the 27th constitutional amendment on Sunday, stating that the party will address the legal fraternity with respect to potential legislation.
After passing the 26th Constitutional amendment last year, the Government had planned to cover another amendment, colloquially known as the 27th amendment, aimed at reforming local governments and “addressing the problems jumped in prior legislation.”
When heading to a press conference in Islamabad today, the leader of PTI and former speaker of the National Assembly declared that there is a “new drama” around legislation.
“In this case, we will approach the lawyers community regarding this legislation,” Qaiser said. “We will start by meeting with the Islamabad bar this month.”
Referring to a “calendar of activities” for this month, Qaiser said that the PTI will also organize a commitment to foreign diplomats and embassies, as well as a seminar.
The PTI leader also assaulted the way in which the country is governing, marking it “illegal, unconstitutional and antidemocratic.”
“The country is practically under martial law and decisions are being made based on personal preferences,” Qaiser said. “The country cannot be executed under this hybrid system that we have at this time.
“We have decided that we will use all available forums (Parliament, Courts, the public, to bring our fight against injustice and oppression.”
Qaiser said the courts made decisions not based on merit, but due to institutional pressure.
“We believe that cases of political prisoners, including [PTI founder] Imran Khan must be judged by merit, not due to the pressure of the authorities, “he emphasized.” If the judgments are decided by merit and there is live coverage in the media, the nation will see what drama this is. “
Qaiser continued: “Then there is also a show in the Assembly. The way in which it is being controlled and the way its system is executed, as well as the way in which parliamentarians are being humiliated in front of the Adiala prison.
“According to our own rules, it is written that any MNA can inspect prisons. Is it simply written or can it be fulfilled?” asked.
The details about the proposed constitutional amendment were released by Fuentes after a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the president of PPP, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, in Lahore, attended by key leaders of both games on October 27 of last year.
