New York-The member of the Hall of Fame, Mariano Rivera, broke an Achilles tendon while pursuing a steering wheel in the New York Yankees veterans game on Saturday and needs surgery.
Agent Fern Cuza said that the 55 -year -old closer, the professional baseball leader in salvages, will have the operation within a week.
In her solo bat, Rivera connected former teammate Andy Petitte and easily ran to the first base. During a turn of Willie Randolph, Rivera took a step and fell to the ground in the shallow central garden behind the second base.
