2 terrorists planning to attack police killed in Mianwali operation: CTD – Pakistan

Two terrorists who plan to attack the Police in the Punjab Mianwali district were killed during an operation, the terrorism department (CTD) said Friday.

The CTD regularly performs operations throughout the province to prevent and investigate activities related to terrorism and gather intelligence. Operating under the provincial police department, the Punjab CTD plays a key role in maintaining internal security and counteracting terrorism within the country.

In a statement today, the law application agency said: “Punjab CTD killed two terrorists during an operation near Kundian in Mianwali.”

He said the CTD acted on a notice after receiving intelligence that terrorists planned to attack the police and other institutions.

“During the operation, the CTD and the terrorists dedicated themselves to a fire exchange, as a result of which two terrorists were killed by their own accomplices, while six of them managed to escape.”

According to the statement, the CTD recovered “explosive materials, two rifles, hand grenades and bullets” of the terrorists.

“The terrorists had completed their plans to attack the police and other institutions,” he said.

The CTD spokesman said that the process of identifying the two terrorists was underway, while a search operation was launched to arrest the terrorists who escaped.

Punjab CTD was “diligently chasing his goal of a sure punjab and is committed to uprooting the threat of terrorism,” the statement added.

Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities during the past year, especially in KP and Baluchistan, after the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Taliban finished its high fire with the government in November 2022.

The country took second place in the 2025 global terrorism index, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks that increased by 45 percent during the last year to 1,081.

Last month, Punjab CTD killed five terrorists and successfully frustrated a horror plot in Taunsa Sharif in a “great anti -terrorism advance.”

In April, the Agency for the Application of the Law frustrated the main attacks on arresting 10 terrorists belonging to prohibited organizations during 189 operations in different areas of Punjab.
