Shots fired — again — at Indian celebrity’s café in Surrey, B.C.

For the second time in a month, a coffee from Surrey, BC, owned by the famous Indian comedian and television presenter Kapil Sharma has been filmed.

The last incident in Kap’s Cafe occurred early Thursday morning, according to the Surrey Police Service (SPS).

The Police Department says that the officers responded to the shooting in a business in the Newton neighborhood of Surrey in the 120th Street block around 4:40 AM PT.

At a press conference on Thursday, the sergeant. Lindsey Houghton said the officers found a suspicious bottle on the scene.

“There was a bottle with a rag, which has all the characteristics of a Molotov cocktail or a Molotov device,” said Houghton.

The officers will prove the evidence to confirm what it was.

The shots were also fired in Kap’s Cafe last month, July 10. The coffee opened on July 3, according to its Instagram account.

Houghton said there is no research update on the shooting in July, but added that the case is active.

Similar to July 10, Houchton said the staff was in the baking building when the incident occurred on Thursday morning.

“Fortunately, no staff was injured,” said Houghton.

He said that there is no definitive link with extortion, a growing concern for local companies in southern Asia, but that researchers are not discarding it.

Houghton said that a video related to Thursday morning incident circulates online and emphasizes so that people take into account the source.

“We always urge the precautionary people who take everything they read on social networks with a large salt grain. We need to let the evidence guide the investigation.”

The owner of the Kap Café, Sharma, is one of the most famous comedians and artists in India, with more than 45 million followers on Instagram.

Cutan Singh lives and works near Kap’s Cafe. He has been in the business twice since his opening, but said he is not sure if he will go again in the near future after the two shootings.

“I feel very bad. This is a new coffee, it recently opened,” he said. “We don’t feel safe at this time.”

He said the police catch the perpetrator.

“This affects our society in a bad way. And nobody wants that.”

Surrey Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or anyone who has been in the area at that time and has video or board images to contact 604-599-0502 and quote the file number 25-66351 (SP), or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-22-8477.
