Three more people have been confirmed as victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11 to the World Trade Center, who killed more than 2,700 almost 24 years ago, officials of New York city said Thursday.
The newly identified victims are Ryan Fitzgerald, by Floral Park, New York; Barbara Keating, from Palm Springs, California; And a woman whose name is retained at the request of her family, announced the mayor and the head doctor of New York.
The forensic doctor’s office identified them through “family dissemination and advanced DNA analysis,” officials said.
“Almost 25 years after the disaster in the World Trade Center, our commitment to identify the missing and return them to their loved ones is as strong as ever,” said the main forensic doctor, Dr. Jason Graham, in a statement.

The remains of Keating and the woman recovered in 2001, and the remains of Fitzgerald were recovered in 2002, authorities said.
Although officially identified through the DNA analysis, Keating and Fitzgerald names are among the almost 3,000 names registered in the September 11 memorial in New York City.
Around 1,100 victims remain unidentified, said the office of the Forensic doctor.
“Each new identification attests to the promise of science and sustained scope to families despite the passage of time. We continue this work as our way of honoring lost,” Graham said.
September 11 attacks killed 2,977 people in total, including 2,753 in New York City.
The attacks, which used kidnapped passenger planes, destroyed the twin towers in the World Trade Center, and a plane crashed into the Pentagon. A passenger flight that would be used in the attacks, Flight 93 by United Airlines, crashed in Pennsylvania.
