Disney and Lucasfilm said they have resolved a lawsuit with actor Gina Carano, who sued the companies last year alleging that he was unjustly fired from “the Mandalorian” in 2021.
Carano filed a lawsuit in a federal court in California in February 2024 alleging that he was fired his role in the program for expressing right -wing opinions on social networks, and stating that he had suffered emotional damage and lost millions of income after the completion. I was looking for a court order that would require Lucasfilm to restore it or compensate for at least $ 75,000.
The terms of the agreement were not clear immediately. Lucasfilm’s statement said the agreement “will solve the problems in its pending demand against companies.”
“Mrs. Carano was always respected by her directors, co -star and personal, and worked hard to perfect her trade while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect,” Lucasfilm said. “With this demand concluded, we hope to identify opportunities to work together with Mrs. Carano in the near future.”
Carano also announced the agreement in a statement through his agent, saying that the agreement “is the best result for all parties involved.”
“I am excited to turn the page and move on to the next chapter. My wishes remain in the arts, which is where I hope you join me,” Carano said in the statement.
She thanked Elon Musk, whom she called “a man I have never met, who did this good Samaritan fact to finance my demand.”
At the time the lawsuit was filed, Carano confirmed that Musk and X would provide financial support for their demand, following a promise of anterior musk to pay the legal bill for any X users who said they had been discriminated against due to their activity on the social media platform.
Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comments on the agreement.
Carano, in the past, has published on social networks that compare modern political divisions with the holocaust and make fun of the people who carried masks during the pandemic. He also seemed to suggest that there was electoral fraud during the 2016 presidential elections. There has been no evidence of generalized fraud.
She affirmed in the demand that the male colleagues who made similar comments were not retained to the same standards.
