Nueva Delhi: The main court of India will listen to a plea for the restoration of the occupied statement of Kashmiro at the end of this week, court officials said on Tuesday.
The hearing, scheduled for August 8 at the Supreme Court, follows a request submitted by two residents of the territory occupied by India.
The Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi revoked the limited autonomy of Kashmir and brought it directly under federal control.
The measure was accompanied by mass arrests and a blackout of communications that extended for months while India reinforced its armed forces in the region to contain protests.
The elimination of article 370 of the Constitution, which enshrined the special status of the State occupied by India, was challenged by political parties, the association of local lawyers and individual litigants.
In December 2023, the Supreme Court confirmed that it eliminated the autonomy of the occupied territory, but added that it will be restored to state and put a couple with any other Indian state “as soon as possible and as soon as possible.” “We have moved a request in search of a definitive timeline for the restoration of the status of state,” said the lawyer of the petitioners, Soayib Qureshi.
