Islamabad: After facing public criticism about a tender for more than RS47 million for the repair and maintenance of the official residence of a federal minister, the city managers clarified on Monday that there was a typographic error.
The CDA on Saturday had presented the bidding worth 47.3 million for “repair and maintenance of the House of Representatives 36 in Minister Enclave, Islamabad”, and requested offers of registered companies.
On Sunday there was a fuss on social networks, since people criticized the Civic Agency for their plan to spend such a large amount in the official residence of the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
However, the CDA presented a statement on Monday that said that the tender was originally destined for eight houses in Minister Enclave, not one. The CDA also issued a Corrigéndum with an amendment to the tender on Monday of the newspapers, eliminating the name of the house No. 36 and replacing it with eight houses.
When it was contacted, a spokesman for CDA declared: “It was a routine issue for the maintenance of 8 houses at the expense of 47 million, but there was a typographic error in the announcement published on August 2. The typographic error was immediately rectified by the CDA itself and a correndum was issued the next day.”
However, an official source expressed surprise for the explanation of the CDA, pointing out the important discrepancy between mentioning house No. 36 and listing eight separate houses.
“If this was a typographic error, adequate investigation must be carried out to fix the responsibility of such error,” he said.
