The representative Nancy Mace, who has sometimes broken with her own Republican leaders often courted the controversy, launched an offer of long hope for the governor of South Carolina on Monday, shaking a full primary career that already includes large names in the state of Palmetto.

“It’s not about playing defense. It is about offending the offensive, for his family, his freedom and his future,” he will say. “Because I wasn’t built to kiss the ring. I don’t answer the establishment. I don’t owe them a single thing in the back room. I answer people, and people are fed up.”
Donald Trump has not backed a candidate in the race, but his first campaign video includes a clip of the president who says: “Nancy Mace, is a fighter. I know she is a fighter.” And its campaign platform requires a “zero tolerance approach to crime”, reduce the State Income Tax to zero and stop “the radical gender agenda” and “Woke Ideology” in the South Carolina schools.
The Primary of the Republican Party of 2026 will be a family issue within the small delegation of the South Carolina Congress. The son of the Republican representative Joe Wilson, the state attorney general Alan Wilson, launched his campaign in June, while the representative Ralph Norman, one of the leaders of the Caucus of Freedom of extreme right and a thorn on the side of the leadership as Mace, jumped to the race last week.
Other Republican candidates include Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette and state senator Josh Kimbrell.
The sitting republican governor, Henry McMaster, cannot be applied for re -election due to the limits of the deadlines. It is expected that whoever wins the Republican primary will happen to McMaster in the state of Ruby-Rred.
Mace, 47, a former state legislator who fulfills his third term in Congress, would be the best known candidate. She has repeatedly voted against the great project law and was one of the eight Republicans of the House of Representatives who voted to expel the then Salvador Kevin McCarthy, Republican of California, in the middle of her mandate in 2023, a movement that caused a violent reaction of the establishment’s republicans.
In a building full of attention seekers, Mace has managed to take the headlines through some of his unexpected positions and actions. Despite declaring during his first campaign, “he firmly supports[s] LGBTQ Rights and Equality, ”Mace has made a large part of his political identity more recently.
Last year, shortly before Democrat Sarah McBride de Delaware became the first transgender member of Congress, Mace launched a measure to prohibit transgender women from using baths designated by women in the United States Capitol. He later said that the bill was “absolutely” aimed at McBride, now a congressman who Mace has been repeatedly revolted.
In December, Mace accused an assault man for “aggressively” shaking his hand to the United States Capitol, with a Honda for days after the alleged incident. Federal prosecutors decided not to pursue an assault position.
And in February, Mace delivered a speech on the 50 -minute floor without preceding where he accused four men, including his faithful, rape, sex trafficking and other sexual crimes against her and other female victims, which he called “some of the most heinous crimes against imaginable women.”
During his speech, Mace also accused Alan Wilson, his future rival for the governor, of not processing men after, according to Mace, he presented evidence of his office.
The four men that Mace accused of sexual crimes has vehemently denied the accusations in statements to NBC News. In response to the February speech, Wilson’s office described Mace’s accusations that he had not acted “categorically false,” and added that the two politicians know each other well, but that he had never discussed the alleged crimes with Wilson or his office before taking to the floor of the house.
Mace has supported his statements.
A spokesman for the Division of Application of the South Carolina Law, known as SLED, said in a statement in February that he had opened an investigation into the accusations of assault, harassment and voyeurism of MACE in December 2023 after being contacted by the police of the United States Capitol.
Wilson’s office said in February that he had not received any report or request for assistance from any agency to apply the law or prosecution regarding these specific accusations.
When an update was asked on Friday, Wilson’s spokesman Robert Kittle said: “Our office has not received anything related to his case. If Sled delivers the case, he would be sent to the office of the ninth circuit lawyer.”
Born in Fort Bragg, Mace comes from a military family. His father, Brig retired. General James Emory Mace had served as a cadet commander in the citadel, the prestigious military school located in Charleston.
In 1999, during his term there, Nancy Mace made history as the first woman to graduate from the Cadet Corps of the Citadel. She briefly served in the state of South Carolina before defeating Democratic representative Joe Cunningham in the 2020 race for the coastal district of the 1st Congress.
MACE organizes a series of city council events throughout the state in August, calling it the “mother of all municipalities.” The first will be in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday.
