Five members of a family trapped due to a flood four days ago in Ghizer District of Gilgit-Baltist (GB) have been rescued and taken to a safe place on the other side of a river, said Ghizer’s 1122 rescue.
Pakistan has been dealing with severe floods caused by cloud bubbles, floods of Glacial Lago (Glof) and intense monsoon rains since June. These extreme climatic events have resulted in several deaths and injuries throughout the country, with the Gilgit-Baltistan region among the most affected.
According to Ghizer Rescue 1122, Shakraiz, a ray strike dragged the road that connected the area affected by floods on the night of July 31, which caused five members of a family to be stranded on the other side of a river in the village of Gopus Khatam.
“Today, the team rescued all members and transferred them to a safe place by boat,” Shakraiz told Dawn.com.
“Foods were also delivered to other families affected during the operation. Sixty -two houses, water supply and electricity systems, together with the health and education centers, were seriously affected by the flood in the valleys of Ishkoman and Gopus de Ghizer.”
According to local political leader Zafar Muhammad Shadamkhel, Lightning hit eleven places simultaneously, causing serious damage to houses, buildings, schools, roads and energy plants. He added that 600 people have been deprived of drinking water.
On Thursday, Cloudburst -induced floods in the districts of Ghizer and Hunza caused significant damage to the irrigation channel in the Ghalapan village in the Gojal of Alto Hunza, which provides water for more than 50,000 forest trees, according to residents.
The next day, a glacier broke out in the GB Bagrot Valley had resulted in the death of a person, while his father was injured, according to the regional government spokesman.
