Islamabad: The Pakistan Water Resource Research Council (PCRWR) declared on Friday 23 insecure brands for human consumption due to microbiological or chemical pollution.
The Pakistan government had entrusted PCRWR for monitoring of bottled water brands/minerals quarterly and advertise the results to obtain public health awareness.
For the second quarter of the year 2025 from April to June, 203 samples of mineral/bottled water marks of 21 main cities were collected. The comparison of the results of the tests with the quality standards of bottled water of the standards of Pakistan and the Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) had revealed that 23 brands were insecure for human consumption due to microbiological or chemical pollution.
Eleven brands such as New Mehran, Aqua 111, pleasant pure Max, pure drinking water, logic, cold hymalya, natural life, natural drinking water, forever, pure drinking water, drinking water, water qudrat was insecure due to the presence of higher levels of sodium.
It was discovered that four brands (Atco Bothple Water, Aqua Nest, Pani, New Mountain were insecure due to the presence of higher levels of arsenic.
A brand labeled as Vey was forever found insecure due to the presence of a high level of potassium than the permitted limit.
Nine brands, such as pure noble drinking water, Aqua 111, transparent water, WAH water, pleasant pure max, Aqua King water, Maa Jee, drinking water from Freshin and Iceland, were found contaminated with bacteria and, therefore, were not safe to drink fine.
PCRWR said that the general public was encouraged to see the detailed report to know about the state of water quality of the bottled water brands they consume.
