Karachi: Responding to the written and verbal consultations of the legislators during the time of questions at the Sindh Assembly, Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Friday reported Friday that the provincial transport department was not responsible for delays in the completion of the rapid transit project of the Red-Bus line (BRT).
Memon, who also has the portfolios of the Department of Transportation and Information, said that all aspects of the red line project were being monitored by local experts and international consultants.
He said that the work was underway in the main development schemes in the city, and that progress were being made quickly in two sections of the Yellow BRT line with a bridge that is expected to be completed in August.
In response to a verbal question raised by the Muttahida Qaumi movement, Dr. Fouzia Hameed, the minister acknowledged that occasional delays could occur due to technical or administrative problems, but in general, the work progressed without problems. He said that relocating public services connections was always a great challenge.
“Several stages had to be completed to eliminate the BRT route gas from the Yellow Line and sometimes unexpected problems also arise,” he added.
Highlighting the efforts of the provincial government to provide top -level travel facilities to the people of the province, the main minister said that the People’s Buse Service, which was currently carrying 110,000 passengers daily, was a testimony of this commitment.
“The government plans to introduce more buses to address the long -standing transport problem in the province, including Karachi,” he added.
He said that Sindh’s government government introduced the first Pakistan oxen and added that EV scooters would be provided to women at the end of August.
In response to another question, he said that the provincial government was aimed at digitizing the entire transport department by 2026.
“Route permits have already been digitized, ensuring a more efficient and transparent system,” he added.
Responding to a call attention to Dr. Fouzia Hameed on illegal constructions in the city, Qasim Siraj Soomro said that measures had been taken against those involved and that the government was working to stop illegal constructions.
Call for a separate educational board for Christians
In his attention notice, the minority member Mahesh Kumar said that the issue of ethics had been given to minority children in textbooks.
“The issue of ethics should be for everyone,” he said and asked the provincial government to replace the issue of ethics with religious studies in educational institutions.
He also demanded the creation of a separate educational board for the Christian community.
The Minister of Education, Sardar Shah, while responding to the notice, said that a single curriculum was brought during the PTI era, to which the Sindh government had opposed.
He said that at that time Muslim children were taught to Islamiat and that non -Muslims were taught ethics. “We reviewed the curriculum in 2022 and work was in progress to replace the issue of ethics with religious studies.”
In response to a Najam Mirza notice of MQM-P regarding children’s admissions through centralized admission policy (CAP), the Minister of Education said that CAP had spread to the entire province and admissions were automatically made by computer without any human intervention.
He said the preference was given to the A1 qualification and an admissions qualification.
The assembly session, chaired by the speaker Owais Qadir Shah, witnessed a unique exhibition of the spirit of independence, with members of women with green and white dresses. Later, President Syed Awais Qadir Shah postponed the house until Monday.
