A Christian musician affiliated with Maga received a permit from the city of Saskatoon to act in a local park, confirmed the city lawyer on Wednesday.
Sean Feucht, a Christian musician affiliated with Maga, has faced cancellations of multiple places in Canada in recent weeks due to his controversial points of view. Feucht is a defender on the right and has spoken against the 2SLGBTQ+community. The 41 -year -old website and social networks are full of postures against abortion, the critical theory of the queer race and community.
The communities in Nueva Scotia, Pei, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba have already denied or revoked concert permits for the interpreter’s revive on the ’25 tour.
Feucht is scheduled to act in Saskatoon Diefenbaker Park on August 21. The city lawyer Cindy Yelland confirmed during the City Council meeting on Wednesday that the city approved the concert permit.
“There are no public security concerns that would require the event to be canceled,” said Yelland.
“The situation can change as we approach the event. Being clear, allowing an event in the public space does not mean that the city is supporting any event, or any message from the organizers of the event.”
From there, the councilors confirmed that any cancellation of the event for public security would be in the hands of the police.
Mayor Cynthia Block appeared on CBC’s Saskatoon tomorrow Wednesday morning, before the board meeting. She acknowledged that the planned concert is causing tension.
“I am deeply concerned about the security problems of this artist who comes to our city,” said Block.
“I received many telephone calls, many emails and I have been in conversations with the police chief. They are doing their due diligence to ensure that they follow all the right legislation to protect freedom of expression, but fundamentally understanding that this is a security problem. It is a physical security problem, and I am personally worried.”
The mayor of Saskatoon, Cynthia Block, joined Saskatoon Morning and went to the concert planned in Diefenbaker Park by the controversial American singer Sean Feucht.
Block said he asked the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) to work quickly in that due diligence, “because it is being done, I believe, our entire community feels very tense about what is coming here.”
After the block interview, the SPS provided CBC a statement.
“The SPS is aware of this event, and as we do with many special events, we are working with the organizers of the event to guarantee public safety. At this time, we do not know any immediate security concern.”
