The Karachi Business Management Institute (IOBM) celebrated its first competition focused on technology as part of the ‘Technova 2025’ event.
According to the website of the event, ‘Technova’ is a main event of technology and innovation that brings together students, professionals and enthusiasts from various origins.
It is a unique combination of technical and non -technical modules. The event provides an attractive platform for participants to show their skills, compete in exciting challenges and explore emerging technologies.
Talking with Dawn.comThe vice president of the event, Muhammad Anas, a last year student in IOBM, said: “This was the first event focused on technology in the history of IOBM; he had multiple technological modules, including an exhibition of last year projects, a startup launchpad, speed programming, fast engineering, web design and logo, and Maths Mania.”
He added that the winners received a cash prize from up to RS50,000, and the competition attended students, teachers, technology experts and professionals from more than 25 universities throughout the country.
“AlhamdulillahWe had more people than expected. Around more than 500 participants and visitors, excluding university students and staff who invented a footprint of around 2500 to 3000 people, ”Anas added.
The event, organized under the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems, aimed to provide an opportunity for young people to express their technology, creative thinking and practical skills, according to a press release from the competition.
The event, affiliated with the student branch of the Warsity’s Institute of Electrical and Electronics (IEEE), began with an opening session, which was attended by the leadership of the Institute and the personalities of the technological industry.
The event also included a special artificial intelligence symposium, in which experts discussed the future of artificial intelligence and its educational and industrial importance.
The speakers included Microsoft Pakistan Country Education, leader Jibran Jamshed, the director of the Telec group, Brigadier Musharraf Khan, the rector’s professor Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro and other notable speakers.
In the competition of last year projects, the students presented innovative ideas that were not only appreciated, but some teams also received investment offers. Students demonstrated their creative skills in web design and logos, while speed programming demonstrated their technical skills through precise coding within a established time. Academic competitions were carried out in ‘Maths Mania’ and ‘Fast Engineering’, while young people presented business ideas through ‘Launchpad’.
Speaking about his project, the winner of the Startup LaunchPad competition, Ayaan Amir, a mechanical engineering student, said: “My project was a healthy food startup called Greenbite. Our goal is to provide oil without oil that are not only healthy and delicious, but also affordable.”
He added that there was a demand for a service for people aware of health who want a reliable daily food solution without compromising the taste or budget, and that the judges had encouraged their team to communicate with them to develop the idea.
In May, the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Department of Law, organized a contest under the issue of “Legislative Drafting and competence of Governance Policies of AI” at the University.
The event was organized in collaboration with Sehrish Saba Raja and Associates Legal Clinic and Research Center, the Society 5.0 initiative, the Pakistan Law Student Council and other distinguished partners.
He brought together 11 teams from the main universities and Think Tanks throughout the country to present innovative policies and legislative proposals on artificial intelligence governance.
