Nueva Delhi: The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) in a change of U -sense has decided on Thursday to the Annual General Meeting of the Cricket Council (AGM) of the Asian Crick Council, Hindustan Times reported Wednesday.
The ACC meeting that will take place in Dhaka will decide the fate of the Asia Cup of this year, which India is scheduled for the host in September.
The sources within the BCCI have confirmed that the Board has decided to attend practically Thursday’s meeting.
“Yes, we have decided to attend the meeting virtually,” said a source from BCCI to Hindustan Times under condition of anonymity.
Previously, in the midst of the growing political tension between India and Bangladesh, the BCCI decided not to visit Dhaka and threatened to boycott the most important agm of the Asian body of the game.
Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to determine the status of the Asia Cup, which is supposed to be played in T20 format. If the tournament obtains the approval, it is most likely to be played in the EAU, with India maintaining its accommodation rights.
Taking into account the fact that the BCCI and the Cricket Board of Pakistan (PCB), amid tense political relations between the neighbors of nuclear weapons that reached new heights after their military clash in May, are not interested in playing in the places of each, particularly after the 2024 hybrid that reached between the two countries for the participation in the events of the CIC, the UAA has emerged as an editor of the two countries.
Previously, Sri Lanka Crickt (SLC) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had put themselves on the side of the BCCI, saying they would not visit Dhaka for the AGM. Taking into account the changing position of BCCI, the two Crick Boards are also expected to attend the meeting virtually.
The chief of ACC, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the president of the Cricket Board of Pakistan (PCB), will organize the meeting in Dhaka.
Mohsin arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon and was received by Mohammad Aminul Islam, the chief of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
