Peshawar / Islamabad: At least 11 more people died due to the heavy rains of the monsoon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Tuesday when the number of national deaths increased to 234 since the end of June, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Heavy rains caused sudden floods in several districts of KP and Gilgit-Baltistan, damaging homes and increasing water levels in rivers and streams, which led to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to instruct NDMA to coordinate with the provincial governments and departments relevant to the immediate relief to the affected persons.
According to the Provincial Authority of Disaster Management (PDMA), SWAT reported six deaths, including four children, while two Bajaor deaths and each Buner and Superior Kohistan were reported.
In Swat, two children were dragged in South Dheri Nullah, while three children were killed after a roof collapsed in Madyan’s area. A woman was dragged into a sudden flood in Khawazkhela.
Two men in the Loe Mamond areas of Bajaur and a woman at the Alto Kohistan were dragged into sudden floods. A man also died in Buner.
In GB, sudden floods caused by heavy rains continued to devastate communities in the northern region on Tuesday.
Rescue 1122 said a sudden flood in the residential communities flooded with Danyor Nallah, destroyed crops and irrigation channels. The flood also damaged the link roads and suspension bridges, reducing road links to the affected areas.
The local administration reported that a high -level flood in Thor Nala de Chilas had flooded the Wapda neighborhood, forcing residents to evacuate the area.
There are also destruction reports in the Bolan area of the Astore district, where a woman was killed.
Meanwhile, 250 tourists and passengers stranded on the Babusar Highway have been rescued by the District District administration, the volunteers, the police, the 1122 rescue and the army, according to the spokesman of the GB Government, Faizullah Faraq.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, from 10 to 15 people were still missing and a search operation was being carried out to find them.
Tourists stranded in Deosai due to the Skardu-deosai road blockade have also been rescued.
Menzón’s death toll
The rains of the monsoon, hitting the country since the end of June, have resulted in a general devastation.
According to NDMA, 234 people have lost their lives and 596 injured. In addition, 826 houses have been damaged, while 203 cattle murdered since June 26.
Of the 234 deaths, 79 were men, 42 women and 113 children.
The greatest number of victims reported Punjab, where 135 people lost their lives. In KP, 56 people were killed; Sindh recorded 24 deaths; and Baluchistan 16.
Two deaths from Azad Jammu and Kashmir have been reported, while a child has been killed in Islamabad. According to NDMA, Gilgit-Baltistan’s loss has not been reported.

Glof, flood prognosis
In Punjab, houses and crops standing in hundreds of villages have been flooded due to low -to -level floods in several rivers.
The flood in the Ravi, Sutlej, Chenab and Indus forced evacuations rivers and displaced hundreds of people in river areas of Muzaffarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan.
More than 20 villages in the Jhang district have been flooded due to the increase in water levels in the Jhelum River. The Sutlej river has seen low -level floods in Sulemanki, while there are concerns about possible water throws from the Indian dams in the Beas and Setlej rivers.
The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has issued a new alert for the flood floods of the glacial lakes (GLOF) in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Separately, KP PDMA has also issued a Glof alert for upper chitral, lower chitral, direct superior, Swat and Superior Kohistan.
A PMD notice issued on Tuesday said it is likely that the rain spell continues and can affect KP and GB during the week.
The predominant climatic conditions will increase the risk of GLOF, sudden floods and landslides in vulnerable regions of GB and KP.
The MET office has advised local authorities to remain alert and take the necessary measures to protect human life and property.
The NDMA warned of landslides in the northern regions in view of the rains of the predicted monsoon.
The authority has warned PDMA, rescue services, local administration, armed forces and NGOs to prepare for possible emergency situations.
According to the projection, isolated rain is expected in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamir, Ghanche, Muzaffrabad, Neelum Valley, Haveli, Bagh and Poonch of GB and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. A similar climate pattern is expected in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan and adjacent mountainous areas of KP.
The downpour will increase the risk of landslides, landslides, rock falls and sinking on the floor in Kolai Palas, under Kohistan, Superior Kohistan, Tatta Pani, Jaglot, Nagar, Hunza, Rondu, Skardu and Chitral.
Help operations
NDMA said he carried out 62 rescue operations throughout the country, rescuing 450 people stranded in sudden floods during the Monzón season. The authority has established 27 medical and help camps to serve the displaced population.
NDMA has also distributed 349 tents, 358 blankets, 500 sandbags, 266 comforters and sleeping bags, 76 mattresses, 554 kitchen games and 305 mosquito networks.
The relief package also included 41 plastic mats, 25 hygiene kits, 35 cans of Jerry, 88 canvases and 59 diverse items. Food support included 153 food packages, while emergency equipment presented 95 drain pumps, 10 gabiones, 200 Charpais, 201 cylinders or gas stoves, 30 life jackets and three ships.
Meanwhile, the prime minister expressed pain for the loss of lives due to heavy rains. He has also ordered the authorities to use all the resources to locate a man and his daughter who were dragged by the water after his car was trapped in a flood in a housing society in Islamabad.
The prime minister also instructed the National Organization for the Authority of Roads and Frontier works to accelerate the restoration of roads and links affected by floods.
