After taking Canada to victory in the confrontation of this year’s 4 nations, chief coach Jon Cooper is obtaining his same support staff for the Olympic Milan-Cortina.
The Canada Hockey announced Monday that Bruce Cassidy of the Golden Knights of Las Vegas, Rick Tocchet of the Flyadelphia Flyers and former Dallas Stars coach, Peter Deboer, will serve as assistants again in Cooper staff for 2026 winter games.
The former Star Assistant and Vice President of Hockey Hockey Operations, Misha Donskov, returns as an assistant coach, while goal consultant David Alexander, director of Performance Analysis James Emery and video coordinator Elliott Mondou completes the staff.
The group led Canada to victory in the confrontation of the 4 NHL nations, the first international tournament to participate in the League from the 2016 Hockey World Cup.
Connor McDavid scored in extra time when Canada beat the United States 3-2 in Boston to win the tournament, which replaced the NHL All-Star weekend this season.
The male Olympic hockey tournament extends from February 11 to 22 in Milan, Italy. Canada won his third gold medal in four games the last time the NHL players participated in the Olympic Games in 2014.
“After a successful confrontation of 4 nations, I am excited to welcome Bruce, Peter, Rick, Misha, David, James and Elliott to the Canadian coaching staff for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, since this is a group of highly qualified coaches that bring curriculums impressive to our staff,” Cooper said in a press release.
“This group of coaches will provide consistency and a winning pedigree to our team, and I know that our players will benefit greatly from this world -class technical body.”
