Jeremiah Valentine, who went to prison for participating in the 2005 boxing day shooting in Toronto who killed a 15 -year -old girl, was accused of murder in Montreal.
The 43 -year -old faces a first -degree murder position in the murder of Abdeck Kenedith Ibrahim, 33, who was shot dead in a square in the center of Montreal around 12:45 am on Tuesday.
Valentine was one of the people convicted in the 2005 shooting in the center of Toronto among rival gangs that killed Jane Creba, 15, and injured others. Creba was shopping with his mother and sister on Yonge street, traditionally one of the busiest strips of Toronto for boxing day gangs hunters, when she was caught in the crossfire.
The crown said that the forensic had determined that it was “very likely” to shoot the bullet that killed the 10th grade student, but admitted that these evidence were not definitive and that the bullet could have come from two other weapons.
In 2009, Valentine declared himself guilty of second degree murder and was given a life imprisonment without probation for 12 years for a crime that became a point of inflammation for the anger of the city due to an increase in the murders related to weapons. Valentine would have had to wait for much more than 12 years for the eligibility of probation if he had not declared guilty, said the judge of the Superior Court of Ontario, John McMahon, at that time.
The crown says that the case of Montreal was postponed until October 23, after a brief hearing in the City Court on Thursday. According to the loading document, Valentine lived in the center of Montreal.
The Canadian probation board did not respond to comments requests on Thursday, and the prosecutor’s office refused to make more comments.
