The Canadian swimming star, Summer Mcintosh, has already recorded his name in the history books for his records of records and a trio of Olympic gold medals of Paris 2024, but his coach Fred Vergnoux believes he still has more to give.
“When we talk to summer, we don’t talk about any limit. And that is something I really enjoy with it. We have a very high level of expectation, we expect much more,” said Vergnoux in an interview with the CBC Sports presenter Brittany Maclean Campbell.
McIntosh broke three world records under the guidance of Vergnoux in Canadian trials in June, in the 400 -meter freestyle, the individual potpourri of 200 meters, as well as its own 400 m record.
Vergnoux, who has successfully trained athletes in the last five Summer Olympic Games, is based in France and is currently training Mcintosh before the World Swimming Championship Aquatics in Singapore, when the first finals begin on Sunday, July 27.
The two have been training together since January 2025.
Look | McIntosh praises Vergnoux:
Fred Vergnoux was this week’s guest in the room ready and we made him look and react to what Summer Mcintosh said about him in Canadian swimming tests.
In the eyes of Vergnoux, it is the consistency of McIntosh that distinguishes it from others.
“I think that is probably what makes the difference between her and the rest is that she never has a day off,” he said. “She is only hugging each session to improve and that is quite unique.
He adds that his age, 18, lends himself well to his work ethics.
“She is young, and she is also very innocent, although she is such a successful swimmer, she has that innocence as a late teenager,” he said. “That’s why she is so interested in what she does daily.”

More to come
Vergnoux believes that the gain will only continue, and more world records in two other events will fall: the 200 m butterfly, an event that won at the Paris Olympic Games and those so commented on about 800m.
“The three world records he did, I think he can improve that,” said Vergnoux. “And we seem to forget that she had 0.2 [seconds] Outside the 200 -meter butterfly, which is for me the most difficult to achieve. “
But it is the 800m event in which Vergnoux made his boldest prediction. That event has been owned by the legendary Katie Ledecky swimmer since he captured gold in the 2012 London Games.
Look | Vergnoux says that McIntosh can break more world records:
Fred Vergnoux was next to Summer Mcintosh when he broke three world records in five days in Canadian swimming tests, so we had to ask: ‘What record will the summer establish below?’
The 28 -year -old star has continued with three more gold medals, including one in Paris. Testing that it is still the queen of the event, Ledecky broke her own world record in the Tyr Pro Swim series in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, touching the wall in eight minutes and 4.12 seconds in May.
However, what fans believe in McIntosh, which will challenge Ledecky in the 800M in Singapore, can succeed is that Toronto’s native defeated his American rival in an event before the Olympic Games in Paris.
McIntosh swam in a national record of 8: 11.39, overcoming Ledecky time of 8: 17.12, a gap of almost six seconds. Ledecky had not lost an 800 m final for more than 13 years.
“I think she is swimming [the 800] Four or five times, “Vergnoux pointed out.”[McIntosh has] There is no experience in the 800 freestyle. I think summer can spend less than eight minutes and be the first on the long course [world record]definitely “.
In an interview with Devin Heroux by CBC Sports, McIntosh says Vergnoux has pushed her to go faster than she never believed possible.
“He has made absolutely amazing with me,” he said. “It has been incredible to know that he believes me fully. It is absolutely incredible. And I think that is such an important relationship, because 100 percent believe in him and also, and that is very important to have the belief between them.”

In autumn, McIntosh will move to Texas to train under the world -class coach Bob Bowman, who guided Michael Phelps to an unprecedented success in the pool on his way to become more decorated Olympic of all time.
But before that, McIntosh is expected to compete in the butterfly of 200 m, 400 m free, 800 m of freestyle and 200 my 400m IMS, in the swimming worlds.
“We should enjoy seeing summer swimming. I think it’s just the beginning for Summer Mcintosh, to be honest. For three gold medals in Paris, I think that is the beginning of something amazing,” said Vergnoux.
“She will continue writing the history of swimming.”
