RO to cops: Act against Parvesh Verma for ‘distributing shoes’ to voters | India News


NEW DELHI: A non-cognisable report (NCR) has been filed on the returning officer’s complaint against BJP leader Parvesh Verma for allegedly distributing shoes to voters in New Delhi assembly constituency.
The complaint was filed by the district returning officer of New Delhi.
“The returning officer received a complaint from Dr. Rajnish Bhaskaralleging that Parvesh Verma, a prospective BJP candidate, was distributing shoes to voters of the New Delhi assembly constituency inside the religious campus of Valmiki temple near Mandir Marg police station,” the complaint reads. .
“The complainant sent two videos showing Verma distributing shoes to women,” the complainant said. According to section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, any gift, offer or promise by a candidate, his agent or other person with the consent of the candidate, intended to gratify any person, constitutes corrupt practices.
The returning officer directed the police to carry out immediate investigation and take appropriate action for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and Section 123 of the RP Act, 1951. The officer asked for a report to be submitted on the actions taken as soon as possible. .
