26-year-old ‘innocent bystander’ killed in daylight Hamilton shooting: police


Hamilton police are looking for a suspect after what they call a “tragic and shameless” shooting that killed a 26 -year -old woman on Friday.

The police are identifying the woman as Belinda Sarkodie.

The shooting occurred in the King Street area between James and Macnab streets on Friday. Police was called to the area shortly before 5:30 pm

When the officers arrived, they met a “chaotic and distressing scene” and located two victims, Hamilton police said in a press release.

A victim of a victim who suffered arms wounds was taken to the hospital where she received treatment for injuries that did not enhance life. Later, the police located Sarkodie, who was declared dead on the scene.

Police say that Sarkodie emigrated to Canada from Ghana in 2024 and lived and worked in Hamilton.

“At the time of the incident, she had been in the center of the city spending time with a friend,” says the statement.

The researchers believe that the male victim may have been the planned objective, and that Belinda was an “innocent spectator tragically tragically tragically in crossfire.”

Police say that the suspect is a man with a medium construction and brown hair, who wore a black shirt with a white design on the front and a large red letter “V” on the back at the time of the shooting.

He also wore blue shorts, dark socks and dark shoes and wore a medical style mask, according to the press release.

The shooting occurred to block where the crowds were enjoying a free art tracking festival.
