A fast -growing fire near the Grand Canyon has expanded more than ten times in size in the last 24 hours.
What officials have called the Sage White fire in Jacob Lake, Arizona, approximately 250 miles southwest of Denver, Colorado, has grown from 1,000 large acres to almost 11,000 acres, according to a government website that tracks the forest fires of the United States. It is 0% content.
According to the National Parks Service, the fire was lit by rays, which caused officials to evacuate the north edge of the Grand Canyon National Park.
On Friday, the authorities said in an X publication that approximately 500 visitors were evacuated in the area, and that the employees and residents of the park remain refugees instead.
The forest fire also led the officials to evacuate the north edge and the southern edge of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, which remains closed to the public.
As the Blanco Sabio Fire is enraged, the nearby Dragon Bravo fire has grown to 1,500 acres on the north edge of the Grand Canyon National Park, authorities said in a position in X on Friday.
“The high temperatures, the very low humidity, the racing winds and the very dry vegetation throughout the region” created a risk for forest fires to occur, authorities said.
The National Parks Service said in a statement on Friday that hiking in the Grand Canyon was not reported, since the fires are enraged and affect the air quality of the park.
