Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that he nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, presenting the president of the United States with a letter sent to the Awards Committee.
The measure occurs when Israel continues its attack in Gaza, which until now has killed 57,523 Palestinians. Last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) backed by the UN issued arrest orders for Netanyahu, citing accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The court said that, together with the former Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, “he intentionally deprived the civilian population in Gaza of indispensable objects for their survival,” including food, water, medicine, fuel and electricity.
“It is forging peace while we talk, in a country, in one region after another,” said Netanyahu at a dinner with Trump at the White House.
Trump has received multiple nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize for Loyal Supporters and Legislators over the years and has not hidden his irritation by losing the prestigious prize.
The Republican has complained that the Norwegian Nobel Committee for his Norwegian for his mediating role in conflicts between India and Pakistan, as well as Serbia and Kosovo.
In 2024, he insisted that he was more worthy of a Nobel noise than former President Barack Obama, and complained about how it was unfair that “any other person” but he would have been honored with one.
In June, Pakistan had also decided to formally recommend Trump for the coveted prize, given his role in reducing the conflict of India-Pakistan when both neighbors date back to the edge of war after US mediation.
However, when the United States joined the Israel War with Iran and launched attacks against three Iranian nuclear facilities, legislators, activists, authors and ex-diplomatic Pakistani criticized the movement. The Senate also presented a resolution in the Senate by the Jamiat Ulema-Islam-Fazl to terminate the decision, but did not lead to any tangible results since Pakistan had not officially presented the nomination.
Trump has also demanded credit for “maintaining peace” between Egypt and Ethiopia and negotiating Abraham’s agreements, a series of agreements with the aim of normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab nations.
He made a campaign for office as a “peaceful” that would use his negotiation skills to quickly end conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, although both conflicts are still in more than five months after their presidency.
