Brics nations slam Trump tariffs, condemn strikes on Iran – World

BRICS leaders at a summit on Sunday pointed to the “indiscriminate” import rates of the US president Donald Trump and the recent Israeli attacks in Iran.

The 11 emerging nations, including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, represent approximately half of the world’s population and 40 percent of global economic production.

The block is very divided, but it is in the common cause when it comes to the mercurial leader of the United States and its wars, even if it avoided appointing it directly.

According to a joint statement of the “BRICS rate, that BRICs members said the rates would be” serious concerns about the increase in the unilateral rate, “they said that the tariffs risked damage to the global economy.

Trump shot the block directly on social networks on Sunday night.

“Any country that is aligned with the anti -American BRICS policies will be charged with an additional 10 percent rate. There will be no exceptions to this policy,” Trump wrote on his real social platform.

Previously, BRICS also offered a symbolic support for fellow Iran, condemning a series of military attacks on nuclear and others by Israel and the United States.

In April, Trump threatened allies and rivals equally with a series of punitive duties, before offering a respite of months in front of a fierce market sale.

Trump warned that unilateral taxes will impose to the partners unless they reach “agreements” before August 1.

In an apparent concession to American allies such as Brazil, India and Saudi Arabia, the statement of the summit did not criticize the United States or its president by name at any time.

There is no show

Conceived two decades ago as a forum for rapidly growing economies, BRICS have seen themselves as a counterweight driven by the Chinese for the power of the United States and Western Europe.

But as the group has expanded to include Iran, Saudi Arabia and others, it has fought to reach a significant consensus about the problems of the onslaught of Gaza until challenging the global dominance of the United States.

BRICS’s nations, for example, collectively requested a peaceful solution of two states to the Israelal-Palestinian conflict, despite Tehran’s long data position that Israel should be destroyed.

An Iranian diplomatic source said that the “reservations” of his government had been transmitted to the Brazilian hosts. Even so, Iran was not to reject the statement directly.

Perhaps in an additional signal of diplomatic sensibilities, the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia completely skipped Sunday’s discussions, according to a source from the Brazilian government.

Saudi Arabia is among the main world beneficiaries of high -tech American military exports and is a long -standing American partner.

This year’s political coup has been exhausted by the absence of the Xi Jinping of China, who jumped the meeting for the first time in his 12 years as president.

The Chinese leader is not the only remarkable absent. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, accused of war crimes in Ukraine, also chose to stay away, participating through a video link.

He told the counterparts that Brics had become a key player in global governance.

The Summit also required regulation that governs artificial intelligence and said that technology could not be the reserve of only rich nations.

The commercial the sector is currently dominated by American technological giants, although China and other nations have a development capacity quickly.
