Three alleged terrorists belonging to the Tipu Gul Group of Tehreek-I-Taliban (TTP) were killed in a joint operation by the Department of Contribution (CTD) and the Police in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lakki Marwat district last night, the police said on Saturday.
Aamir Khan, Lakki Marwat police spokesman, said in a statement today that the CTD, in collaboration with the Local Police, carried out an intelligence -based operation in the Bathani Neh area near Harma Tala Village and killed three militants sought.
The police statement said the terrorists belonged to the Tipu Gul group of the TTP and were involved in the target murder of Waheedullah of the CTD, the Traffic agent Anwar Sher and the Idrees agent.
The statement added that the meeting lasted about 25 minutes.
Police identified the alleged militants as Waseemullah aka Umar Khattab, Qudratullah aka Abu Bakr and Hijratullah aka Hijrat.
They were residents of Gundi Khan Khel, Hijratullah, and the Lakki Marwat thala area of Serai Gambila Town.
The police statement also mentioned that terrorists were sought by the Bannu CTD for explosions using improvised explosive devices (FDI) and attacks against the police, among other serious crimes.
Lakki Marwat has long been an access point for terrorism and violence, with disturbances that date back to the early 2000s. Militant attacks have become more frequent in recent months, despite the continuous efforts of local peace committees to maintain order and resist terrorist influence.
Last week, the leader of a peace committee and two of his teammates were shot dead by terrorists in the Lakki Marwat district.
At the beginning of June, three terrorists were killed in the district Kot Kot area during a shooting with the police and the local peace committee, in which a policeman was also martyred.
