An earthquake of 4.4 magnitude shook Lahore and other parts of Punjab on Tuesday, according to the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD).
The earthquake was recorded at 6:39 am, with the epicenter of 25 kilometers south-southwest of Lahore at a depth of 14 kilometers. According to the spokesman for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), they felt tremors in Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Mureed and other Punjab districts.
There have been no immediate reports of victims. The respective administrations are inspecting buildings throughout the province for any sign of damage.
According to PDMA, the emergency operating centers of the district in Punjab, including the Provincial Control Chamber of PDMA, have been put on alert for the next 24 hours in case they are subsequent.
PDMA has advised people to denounce damage to the 1129 aid line.
On June 30, another earthquake of 3.9 magnitude was recorded at 2:07 pm, 35 kilometers west of Dera Ghazi Khan in Punjab at a depth of seven kilometers. The same day, Baluchistan recorded an earthquake of 4.8 magnitude at 11:11 am, 40 kilometers southwest of Zhob at a depth of 20 kilometers.
Earlier on Sunday, a moderate earthquake of 5.5 hit Musakhail, a remote Baluchistan district that borders Punjab, wounding five people and damaging dozens of mud houses. A previous day, the earthquakes from low to moderate intensity reached parts of Karachi and Pasni in Baluchistan.
The country has experienced many low intensity earthquakes in recent months. Pakistan extends to horcajadas in the limit where Indian and Eurastic tectonic plates are located, which makes the country susceptible to earthquakes.
