French sports articles retailer, Decathlon, says he is closing his five stores in the Toronto Metropolitan Area this summer.
The locations scheduled for the closure are found in Brampton, Burlington, Markham, Scarborough and Vaughan.
The retailer did not offer a reason for the move or said how many employees will lose their jobs, when the stores close on a date still announced.
Instead of running its large -scale GTA stores, the company says it is considering opening smaller locations or using a wholesale distribution model.
CBC News has communicated with a Decathlon spokesman for more information.
GTA’s closures will leave only an ontarium store located in Ottawa. There are another 14 in Alberta, BC, Nueva Scotia and Quebec.
Decathlon entered the Canadian market in 2018 with a Brossard store, which., The company constantly expanded since then, facing national players established as Canadian Tire and its Sportchek banner.
