Pakistan through to Asian Doubles Squash final after defeating Malaysia – Sport

The Pakistani Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman duo broke into the male final of the 2nd Squash championship of Asian doubles after beating the hosts of Malaysia 2-1 in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Duncan Lee and Syafiq Kamal’s Malaysian duo took the first 11-10 set at the Jalan stadium in Sarawak.

But Zaman and Iqbal made a strong return to win the next two sets 11-9 in an exciting 69-minute game.

The duo will face India in the final tomorrow.

In the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Pakistan defeated Korea 2-1 in a fast 37-minute game.

Earlier this month, Zaman and Iqbal were in Malaysia for the 23 Individual Asian Squash Championships, where Iqbal surpassed Lai Cheuk Nam by Hong Kong to advance to the quarterfinals, while Zaman lost to Joachim Chuah of Malaysia 3-2 in his pre-quarterfinal.

Zaman was crowned male champion in the World Squash U23 championship in April after a stellar return against Karim El Torey of Egypt.
