Washington – The Border Tsar of the White House, Tom Homan, said Thursday that the Trump administration will continue to make immigration raids at the work sites, including farms and hotels, but that criminals will be prioritized.
Speaking to journalists, he clarified the United States immigration and customer compliance policy at work sites after the National Security Department said this week that it was reversing the recent orientation that required a break on operations in those places.
“The message is clear now that we will continue to apply the work site, even in farms and hotels, but depending on a prioritized base. Criminals are the first,” said Homan.
The Trump administration is focusing resources on the so -called Sanctuary cities, he said, because “they release public security threats, illegal foreigners to the community every day.”
When asked why ICE addressed its agents last week to stop the investigations of farms and hotels, homan dodged the question by saying: “The operations of compliance with the workplace are an important part of the work we do.”
Homan said in an interview with Fox Business on Thursday that many execution operations of the work site “based on criminal information, criminal investigations such as forced labor, such as trafficking and as … fiscal fraud and money laundering.”
The DHS National Security Research Team arrested immigration compliance actions last week at work sites linked to the agricultural industry, including plants and meat fishing, as well as restaurants and hotels, according to an internal policy memorandum that was sent by a senior ice official and obtained by NBC News.
But on Tuesday, the DHS reversed this guide, with the spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin saying “there will be no safe spaces for industries that house violent criminals or deliberately try to undermine ICE efforts.”
DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comments on Homin’s latest comments.
Los Angeles is among the sanctuary cities where ice has increased its immigration raids, which caused numerous protests in recent weeks. President Donald Trump deployed national guard troops and American marines to respond to these demonstrations, causing generalized criticisms of the Democrats.
The vice president JD Vance can visit Los Angeles this week, with a source with knowledge of federal operations of application of the law that tell NBC News that the planning is underway.
The units of the California National Guard Federalized by Trump have participated in the planning of a visit from a high -level federal official, said another source. Vance’s travel plans are not final and are subject to changes due to the continuous situation in the Middle East.
