A Chinese postgraduate student condemned by drugs and rape 10 women in the United Kingdom and China and suspected of having attacked more on Thursday was imprisoned for life by a London court.
And the London police say they have evidence to suggest that it could have signed up for more than 50 women.
The 28 -year -old Zhenhao Zou Series rapist, described in the Court as “calculated and predator,” attacked young Chinese Chinese to whom he invited his London floor to drink drinks or to study before drug and attack them and attack them.
Zou filmed nine of the violations with hidden or hand, but only two of the 10 victims have been identified.
Sencing him inside the London crown, Judge Rosina Cottage said that “there was no doubt that you planned and executed a rape campaign” that had caused “devastating effects and long term.”
For the world, it seemed “good, ambitious and charming”, but this was a mask that hid a “sexual predator,” he added.
He treated his victims “cruelly” as “sex toys” for his own satisfaction and “desire to affirm power over women”, which meant that it would be a “risk of an indefinite period.”
Zou, with a dark suit and glasses, listened impasively on the pier to prayer through a translator. A minimum of 22 years will pass in jail, after taking into account the time it has already passed in custody.
The former engineering student of the University College London was declared guilty by a jury in March 28 crimes, including 11 positions of rape, with two of the positions related to a woman, three voyeurism charges and one of false imprisonment.
He was convicted of raping three women in London and seven in China between 2019 and 2023.
He was also convicted of three positions to have butanodiol, an industrial solvent, with the intention of committing a sexual crime and 10 positions of possession of an extreme pornographic image.
Prolific ‘rapist
The victims told the sentence hearing in statements to impact the psychological damage they suffered, including nightmares, self -harm and a feeling of despair and isolation.
One recalled “wandering like a trapped animal that tries to find a way out” after she was attacked.
“What happened that night is recorded in my soul,” he said, adding that Zou’s family was “very powerful in China” and feared that “he would seek revenge.”
After the sentence, Saira Pike of the Crown Prosecutor’s Office said: “Zou is a series rapist and a danger to women.” Pike added that the analysis of images and web chats showed the “meticulous planning of the former student and the horrible execution of his crimes.”
Since he was convicted, and after an international appeal by the United Kingdom Police, more than 20 women have presented themselves to say that Zou has sexually assaulted them. The Met Police in London has said they have evidence to suggest that it could have signed up for more than 50 women and urged possible victims to present themselves.
“Given how prolific it seems to have been, there is all the potential that could be one of the most prolific criminals we have seen,” said MET Commander Kevin Southworth.
Southworth said that 24 potential victims had already contacted the officers of “different parts of the world.”
“The main places in which we believe that offending may have happened at this time seem to be … here in London and China.”
But given the “active and prolific” that Zou seemed to have been, there was “all the perspectives that could have offended anywhere in the world,” he added.
The MET said the previous officers were compiling a file of new evidence that will be presented to prosecutors after Zou’s judgment.
