The Punjab government said on Saturday that section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) will be in place to avoid the disturbance of public peace and the danger to human life from June 5 to 11.
A notification issued by the provincial government today said it was reported that during Eidul Azha, random people burned the heads and feet of sacrifice animals that emitted unhealthy smoke and an unpleasant smell.
“The public members throw inputs of sacrifice animals on the road and drains, which causes the smell/unhealthy conditions and the blocking of the sewerage system,” added the notification.
He continued that people in different areas swim in the “channels, ponds, lakes, banks and distributors during EID holidays”, which puts their lives at risk.
“Livestock sellers illegally establish points of sale for the sale/purchase of sacrifice animals within populated areas of districts, which causes obstacles in the gentle realization of traffic and also the spread of different diseases,” reads.
“These activities are not only harmful to public health and security, but also cause discomfort and resentment among the general public [and] It is likely that it causes disturbances in public peace and tranquility. “
The notification said there were enough reasons to proceed under section 144 of the CRPC to avoid the disturbance of public peace and the danger to human life within the territorial limits of the province of Punjab.
Therefore, the Government prohibited the following actions from June 5 to 11 throughout the province: “Burning of the head and feet of sacrifice animals in public places; swimming/bathroom/navigation in rivers/lakes/dams; throwing spoils/enters/enters of sacrifices in animals in the hole/drainage/channels, etc.
A spokesman for the Punjab Department of Interior clarified that no forbidden organization can collect skins of sacrifice animals in Eidul Azha.
“Only organizations registered in the Punjab Charity Commission can collect the skins of sacrifice animals.”
