A six -year -old boy drowned in an open house in Karachi on Wednesday, which caused a protest by residents and politicians, which led the police to register a case against suspects not identified in Jamshed Quarters.
The Jamshed Quarters police officer (SHO) Ansar Butt said: “Two brothers were going through a gasoline bomb in the area when one of them fell into an open house.
“The victim’s brother warned the spectators about the incident, where the child drowned. After being inside the shore for about 20 minutes, the boy died at 7pm on Tuesday.”
The incident enraged the locals who presented a protest on the scene, to which the MQM-P leg-p lego Siddiqi legiqi joined.
Siddiqi told the media: “The government of Sindh and the mayor of Karachi have not been able to cover open man wells in the metropolis. A child fell into a drain 16 feet deep and died.
“The city has been destroyed,” lamented the legislator.
Siddiqi said Dawn.com That the protest took place for four hours, since the police delayed the registration of a first information report (FIR). “The police finally registered the FIR when I spoke personally with the senior police officers, including the inspector general of Sindh,” he said, qualifying the incident “a tragedy for the poor family.”
Sho Butt said the police recorded a case against unidentified suspects on the victim’s maternal uncle, Mohammed Ibrahim under section 322 (homicide) of the Pakistan Criminal Code.
One of the residents said Dawn.com that the victim and his 12 -year -olds used to sell fried potatoes in the area.
“They had bought potatoes and headed home when electricity was cut in the area,” said the resident.
“The owner of the nearby gasoline pump had opened a car wash, whose operator would leave the shore open when he washed the cars to drain the water,” they added. “The shore was discovered when one of the boys fell into it due to darkness.”
The resident said that the protest continued until 1 in the morning on Wednesday, when the police, in the presence of Siddiqui, “promised” that they would try to obtain compensation from the owner of the gasoline bomb.
