• Three die in Kashmir Azad due to ‘Cloud-Burst’; Two killed in KP, Punjab
• The upper part of Babusar receives heavy snow; The authorities say that extreme conditions can persist until May 31
Islamabad: Seven people were killed and more than two dozen of other wounds suffered on Tuesday when severe rain and wind storms swept parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
This is the second time in a week that a storm of such intensity wreaked havoc on many parts of the country, damaging crops, properties and other infrastructure. At least 19 people were killed and more than 90 wounds, since the powerful wind storms and heavy rains had mistreated many areas in Islamabad, Punjab and KP on Saturday.
On Tuesday, two people were killed and around 20 were injured after a storm dragged by several parts of Punjab. The storm, accompanied by heavy rains, strong winds and hail, caused generalized destruction.
According to Rescue 1122, a passenger truck overturned due to rain and dust storm on the Ghazi-Lawrencepur road near Ghazi’s exchange in Atock, which resulted in the death of a passenger and left another five injured.
Separately, four children between nine and 12 were injured when the wall of his house collapsed during the wind storm in the town of Rehmo of the Attock district. In addition, a 25 -year -old woman received multiple wounds when the roof of her house collapsed in the same area. An 11 -year -old girl was seriously injured when the wall of her house in the Saghirabad area collapsed.
According to the provincial headquarters of the 1122 rescue, a man was killed after Lightning hit him in Kalabagh of Mianwali.
The district experienced multiple emergencies, including a wall collapse that left a person injured at the Makkharwal police station and a solar panel that fell that injured another resident.
In Gujranwala, a girl fell from the roof due to the powerful gusts.
In Taunsa Sharif, a woman was injured when the wall of her house collapsed.
Three people, including two children, were injured in Rawalpindi when racial winds hit the city of garrison in the afternoon.
According to the PDMA, these extreme conditions are likely to persist until May 31, with the high and central Punjab districts, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad, facing the greatest risk.
Two dead in KP
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two people lost their lives and another 10 injuries suffered in incidents related to rain.
The rains whipped many areas of the province, leaving several injured people.
A child died while four others were injured in an incident of ceiling in Swabi. Another person died and three members of the same family were injured in lightning in the Shangla district. In the Mattani area of the provincial capital, three people were injured when the roof of his house collapsed, while another was injured in another rain -related incident in the Badershi area of the Nowshera district.
The upper parts of the Hazara division received strong downpours and snowfall on Tuesday, blocking the Karakoram road to all types of traffic in two locations in the bass Kohistan.
“The water of the flood that transported rocks and stones of the nearby mountains blocked the Karakoram road in two points of our district,” Mohammad Duraj, a rescue officer 1122, under Kohistan, told journalists. Babusar Top, the highest point in the Kaghan Valley, received strong snowfall, significantly lowering temperatures throughout the district.
The Provincial Authority of Disaster (PDMA) of KP in a statement issued here said that the spell will continue until May 30. He said the rain caused generalized damage to crops.
Pdma said that wheat, vegetables and fruit crops were seriously damaged in Mardan and its surroundings due to hail storm. In addition, the rains also interrupted energy supply throughout the province when 113 of Peshawar Electric Supply Company stumbled due to rain and storm.
Three dead in Ajk
In Kashmir, three women lost their lives and a man disappeared, while several properties were damaged after a “cloud -induced flood” wreaked havoc in a suburban area of Muzampharabad on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Saeed Qureshi, senior director of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), told Dawn that the “Cloudbursst” caused a flood in a water channel in the village of Balgran, located about 35 kilometers from Muzaffarabad on the right bank of the Neelum river, at approximately 4 pm
Among the victims were Zaiwar, 75, and his daughter Shireen Bibi, 35, who died when the furious current swept his house and filled her with mud.
The Casa de la Casa de la Casa (SHO) of Panjgran Iftikhar Awan, who spoke with the dawn from the affected village, said that the mother’s body was immediately recovered, while the daughter’s body was taken from the debris.
In another severely affected house, rescuers found Gori Bibi, 35, seriously injured and unconscious. She was urgently taken to the Tehsil headquarters hospital in Patikka, where she succumbed to her wounds later at night.
Gori Bibi’s father, Jalal Deen, 65, was reported as missing.
“We have been trying to locate it, but it was in vain,” said Sho Awan.
The videos shared by the residents showed muddy water that sprouted along the ground floor of the main mosque of the town, which was built almost along the course of the water channel, where the water flow is usually minimal. According to Sho Awan, the flood, which lasted about half an hour, completely destroyed the mosque.
Qureshi of the SDMA said the initial evaluations indicated partial damage to 20-25 houses and the mosque. However, Sho Awan feared that the figure could be higher. “At this time, our priority is to evaluate human losses. Material damage will be evaluated in the daylight on Wednesday,” he said.
Separately, in Islamabad, the district administration decided to get the advertising fences of the city after a fixed hoarding in the National Press Club collapsed due to a wind storm that had also uprooted several trees.
