Calgary’s company at the center of a nursery E. Coli Broke will be sentenced on Tuesday morning after declaring himself guilty of crimes of the statute last month.
In April, the Peace Judge Mathieu St-Germain accepted the company’s guilt declaration to be operated without a commercial food services license at the time of the outbreak.
Fueling Minds Inc. lawyers, a catering company that provided food to local nurseries, and the city of Calgary presented a joint recommendation of sentences last month of a fine of $ 10,000.
After the sentence is transmitted, prosecutor Ed Ring indicated that he will ask the judge to withdraw the remaining positions faced by the two directors of the company.
In September 2023, an E. coli outbreak was declared with at least 448 people, mostly children.
Of the most serious cases, 39 children and an adult were hospitalized and 23 of those patients were diagnosed with hemolytic uremic syndrome, a condition that can lead to potentially deadly renal failure.
The city of Calgary said he had tracked the outbreak to the catering company that prepared food for his nurseries, feeding brains, as well as other child care companies in the city.
A report published by Alberta Health Services found that E. Coli probably came from a residential meat cake of the central feeding cuisine on August 29, 2023.
‘Administrative hip … not verified’
During the company’s plea, an agreed statement of facts was read aloud.
The company admitted that it did not have a commercial food services license at the time of the outbreak.
Prosecutor Ed Ring told the Court that the city had not established that feeding the lack of minds by obtaining an adequate license caused the incident of E. coli.
Minds food lawyer, Steve Major, told the court that the company had a kitchen license but not a Catering license, “an administrative box that was not marked.”
Following the outbreak, several demands were filed against the company, including a proposed class demand that is still before the courts.
