‘Damage control’: Congress mock PM Modi ‘not a God’ remark in his first podcast appearance | India News

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Friday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his first podcast appearance with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath on the “People by WTF” channel.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Prime Minister Modi’s interview was for damage control after he proclaimed his non-biological status just eight months ago.
Jairam turned to X and said, “This is coming from a man who proclaimed his non-biological status just eight months ago. This is clearly damage control.”

During the conversation, PM Modi reflected on an earlier speech from his tenure as Gujarat chief minister and said, “When I became CM, in one of my speeches I said that I would leave no stone unturned in my efforts. Secondly , I will not do anything by myself. Thirdly, I am a human being, I can make mistakes, but I will not make mistakes with bad intentions. I made them the mantras of my life.”
“I said something insensitively. Mistakes happen. I am a human being, not a God,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi, during the Lok Sabha campaign, said in an interview that he felt he was not biological but sent by God. The comment made headlines and Congress began referring to it as “nonbiological” and “divine.”
During the conversation, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of public service-oriented people joining politics, stating that they should be driven by mission rather than personal ambition.
Although the Prime Minister regularly hosts ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and appears in television interviews, this is his first foray into podcasting.
