A care package with goods from the hometown of the NWT Prime Minister is on his way to Ottawa, and the woman who gathered him only hopes he will smile.
“It was not a political gesture,” said Patti-Kay Hamilton, by Fort Smith, NWT, but rather a way “to thank me for making me happy.”
Prime Minister Mark Carney was born in Fort Smith and lived in the city of southern NWT until his family moved south when he was about six years old. Hamilton said that when Carney mentions her birthplace in speeches and interviews, she seems proud.
Hamilton recalled having seen a transmission of Carney’s visit to Iqaluit in March When she noticed that he was trembling.
“He looked so cold and shouted at television: ‘Give a hat to the man!'” He said.
It was then that he announced that sending a skin hat is something that she and others from the hometown of Carney could do. Once others in Fort Smith, Hamilton said people were dropping all kinds of things for their home for the new prime minister.
There is no leather hat in the attention package that is now in the mail, but the residents sent a recipe for Bannock, a Loppet touch, CD of Fort Smith musicians, a carolado carolado by Buffal About the book on the book on the book on the book on the Historic Relationship of 1968 in Fort Smith That would have affected some of the children with whom Carney went to the kindergarten in Fort Smith.
The Federal Government’s website includes a section on gifts and articles sent to Prime Minister, and says that some articles cannot be accepted for security reasons, such as perishable goods. That is why Hamilton could not send the jam, honey or fir ointment that some residents left.
Bannock’s recipe in the attention package is Bar Mercredi and had an important advice to ensure that the prime minister brings him closer.
“An important thing when doing Bannock is that it does not exceed. Just love 10 times [and] Make sure the oven grid is in the middle, “he said in a Facebook message.
The package also includes an infinite symbol with accounts of the Fort Smith Methis, a pendant stained glass windows and a small fall stone, a unique rock type that is molded by the rotating river, also called concretion rocks.

Hamilton said he now has a good stone collection.
“The young children in the neighborhood found out and began to leave them at my back door,” said Hamilton. “Finally, we found a small fall stone that could be something that could remember of his childhood when he was here.”
A book that Hamilton wrote, Narria of the life of Trapper and Bush Man Pi Kennedy. Hamilton said it was Kennedy’s idea to send him, suggesting that Carney could benefit from some of the book lessons.

“A trapero with a dog team is very similar to a prime minister … You have to keep trying even if you fall from the dog sled,” said Hamilton, Kennedy told him.
“[Carney] He must remember that if they ever cornered it through a package of wolves, he moves, does not go back and never turns his back on a hungry bear, those were [Kennedy’s] messages “.
