Much of Los Angeles County was under evacuation orders Wednesday as massive wildfires spread through the megacity’s suburbs.
As of 9:30 a.m. EST, the state of California is tracking three active wildfires in the Los Angeles area, which together measure nearly 4,500 acres and none of them were contained by suppression efforts.
By far the largest is the Palisades Fire, a nearly 3,000-acre fire in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, located between the coasts of Santa Monica and Malibu and home to many Hollywood celebrities.
Here’s what some of the stars see from their backyards:
James Woods
Emmy Award-winning actor James Woods is among those evacuees, according to several posts on his X account. Starting Tuesday afternoon, Woods began sharing short clips that appear to have been filmed in his yard, first showing smoke from wildfires rippling through the neighborhood and then fires spreading to nearby homes.
“Standing in my driveway, getting ready to evacuate,” Woods is heard saying in a clip posted shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday local time. “We have a lot of planes flying overhead, dropping water, but…”
At the time of a clip said to have been filmed that same afternoon, Woods’ yard becomes engulfed in a haze of smoke, interrupted only by bright orange flames burning from the hill.
Woods later shared that he had safely left the area and shared one more video clip of clear skies filmed before things took a turn for the worse.
“I must say it is soul-testing, losing everything at once,” he wrote.
Eric Braeden
The Young and the Restless star shared a video on her Instagram page of fire and smoke burning just beyond the edge of her backyard.
“Behind my house! The worst thing EVER in LA!” Braeden wrote.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag
TV personalities and The Hills alumni were among those affected by the Palisades fire, and Spencer Pratt shared a couple of videos on her TikTok account.
“There’s a fire here behind the house,” Pratt says to the camera as plumes of smoke streak across the sky behind him. “Say a prayer for the Palisades.”

Marcos Hamill
The renowned Star Wars star updated her fans on her Instagram page, writing that she had fled Malibu “so at the last minute [were] small fires on both sides of the road.
“The most horrible fire since ’93,” he wrote. “STAY SAFE!”
Steve Guttenberg
A local television news station covering the wildfires came across Police Academy star Steve Guttenberg, who urged residents abandoning their vehicles to leave their keys to help emergency workers.
“If someone has a car and they leave it, leave the keys in the car so we can move your car, so these fire trucks can get to Palisades Drive,” he told reporters. “People take their keys as if they were in a parking lot. This is not a parking lot.”
This is a developing story. More details to come…
