An Ohio man accused of murder devised an “elaborate plan” to frame another man who was initially arrested in the murder and held for more than a week, Indiana authorities said.
Nigel Thomas, 34, was arrested Friday for charges that a woman identified as Wilma Robertson, 35, Jefferson County, Indiana, said the prosecutor’s office in a press release on Monday.
Robertson, from Hanover, Indiana, was found dead during a welfare control of his house on April 14. Additional details about his death or a possible reason in the murder were not immediately available.
According to the statement, Thomas, also known as “Nati Bang”, supposedly created multiple social media accounts under the name of a man from Kentucky, Shawn Bailey, and used those profiles to send messages to the victim’s family.
Those messages showed Bailey, from Louisville, admitting the murder, according to the statement.
Bailey, 33, was arrested for a murder charge on April 15, but released 10 days later after the authorities discovered DNA evidence that excluded him as suspicious, according to the statement.
“The criminal justice system is ultimately a search for the truth, said Jefferson County prosecutor David Sutter, in a statement.” Multiple agencies in three states worked tirelessly in their search for all researchers lead to discover the crimes of Nigel Thomas and Clear Shawn Bawn Bawny. “
The efforts to get to Bailey on Tuesday were not successful.
The prison records show that Thomas is arrested in Butler County, Ohio. It was not clear immediately if you have a lawyer to speak in your name.
The prosecutor said that a hearing will be scheduled at the Jefferson Circuit Court after Bailey is taken to Indiana.
